On October 3 – 5, 2012, the International “Project Management in City Parks’ Landscaping and Development Sphere in Financial Crisis Conditions” seminar has been taking place in Odessa.
The seminar is aimed at joint developing a strategic plan of the city parks’ revitalization with minimal use of the budget funds.
The leading landscaping and city planning experts from the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Hungary and Croatia, and Ukrainian Lvov City are taking part in the seminar.
The participants of the seminar will examine two city parks: T.Shevchenko park and Victory Park. The working groups’ recommendations were delivered to the municipal authorities today, on October 5, 2012, at the final press-conference having been held in the City Council’s Small Hall.
Odessa City First Deputy Mayor Nikolay Ilchenko emphasized that the methodological and practical recommendations by the foreign specialists are very important and timely for Odessa, “The most interesting thing, as I see it, is the concept of our parks’ zoning, European experience of involving public and famous people into developing the city’s parks and green zones”.
As a result of the seminar, the foreign guests have especially emphasized the cleanliness of Odessa’s parks. “We have put a lot of efforts into reaching this, since it was the task set by Odessa City Mayor personally”, said Nikolay Ilchenko.
Since October 18, a number of meetings devoted to involving the local resources to discussing the prospects of Odessa’s park zones’ development will be held in Odessa City Council. It is planned that the representatives of Architecture Academy and Ecological university, architects, social figures, landscape designers and businessmen will be taking part in these meetings. The meetings will be aimed at forming the precise image of how Odessa’s parks and squares should look by the New Year. At the time being, all the heads of Odessa City Council’s according structures are to present their own park zones’ development projects.
