Aleksey Kostusyev is a statesman and public figure, People’s Deputy of Ukraine of three convocations, Economical Studies Doctor, Ukraine’s Honored Economist.
He was born on June 29, 1954, in Nyevyelsk City at Sakhalin Island (Russia) in the family of a frontier guard officer.
In 1957, he graduated from Odessa National Economy Institute cum laude.
In 1977, he started working in Odessa Marine Fleet Engineers Institute, where he’s come a path from the junior research officer to the associate professor, head of the department.
In 1991, he became the Deputy Head of Odessa Kievskiy District Executive Committee.
In 1992, he was elected to be Odessa Municipal Privatization Committee Head and created ““Odessa” Civil Forum” Social Organization.
In 1998, he was elected to be Ukraine’s People’s Deputy.
In February 2000, Aleksey Kostusyev headed the Economical Policy, National Economy and Property Management and Investments Affairs Committee in Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
In 2001, he was appointed the Head of Ukraine’s Antimonopoly Committee and he’s been the head of it for 7 years.
In 2004, Aleksey Kostusyev was elected the Head of the Intergovernmental CIS Countries’ Antimonopoly Policy Council. For the first time, this post was occupied by a representative of Ukraine. At the time being, he is the Honorary Head of this body.
Aleksey Kostusyev is the author of over 150 scientific, educational and methodological works.
Aleksey Kostusyev is the owner of many honorary decorations, he is the Full Cavalier of “For Merits” Order (I, II and III Classes) and Order of the Saint Equal to the Apostles Prince Vladimir (I, II and III Classes).
He is also the owner of the Nativity of Christ Order (I Class).
On October 31, 2010, Aleksey Kostusyev was elected the Mayor of Odessa.
